Molten Metal Filtration

Alumina fiber textiles offer a material route for filtration of aluminum, copper and other non-ferrous molten alloys.

Match the textile to the melt

The Morlion brochures identify continuous alumina fabrics as filtration media for molten alloys. Fabric architecture, fiber grade and the supported shape should be selected for the specific alloy and pouring conditions.

Define the filtration requirement

Provide alloy chemistry, melt temperature, contact time, flow rate and the inclusions to be removed. Specify the opening size and available support geometry so a trial can evaluate flow and material integrity.

Melt temperature, flow and alloy chemistry define the conditions for a filtration trial.

From sample to production

Assess chemical compatibility, erosion and fiber release in the actual melt. The brochures give textile dimensions, but do not establish a universal filtration efficiency or approved alloy list.
